Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles

One of the nice things about my new job, is that I will still have a chance to stay involved in the academic world. Last week, I went to the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) annual meeting in Long Beach, CA. Aside from the great weather, it was fun to see a lot of friends from Penn. I also got to know some of my coworkers a little better.

Most importantly, some of us went out for dinner at Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles. Yes it is exactly what it says it is...

Also as someone who doesn't drink, I always appreciate places that have interesting nonalcoholic drink options. This one is called the eclipse and was a mixture of lemonade, orange juice, and fruit punch. It was delicious (I didn't have a good camera, so the picture is a little off, I tried to enhance, there should be 3 distinct layers).

CMB Fashion Show Continues

So we finally had some rain earlier this week, so CMB got to wear his new rain jacket...

This snow is following me.

After last year's snowy winter in Philly, it takes a lot of snow to really get my attention.

But it is our first experience with Memphis and snow. The snow started late afternoon... they're already freaking out. It looks like Memphis will get 2-4 inches, but it may be a little bit more of a mix of snow and ice, which I think is a little more dangerous. Plus they don't have the facilities to deal with the snow. Parts of Northern Mississippi are actually expected to get more than 6 inches.

I've already received notice that we can work from home tomorrow if we are uncomfortable with the driving conditions or something like that. My problem is cmb's day care might be closed, and I will be uncomfortable with every body else's driving in these conditions... Nice that I have the option and the IT to do a lot of my work from home.

I'm also annoyed that I'm getting any snow this year AT ALL after the horribly hot summer we had. I was hoping that there was the understanding that the brutal summer meant a very mild winter. I was wrong. Oh well, I'm leaving for San Diego on Wednesday anyway.
